Open Season by Jonathan Kellerman Review

“Open Season” is the 40th installment in Jonathan Kellerman’s acclaimed Alex Delaware series, and the audiobook version delivers a compelling experience that keeps listeners engaged from start to finish. The narrative follows psychologist Alex Delaware and LAPD Homicide Detective Milo Sturgis as they investigate a series of perplexing murders in Los Angeles. The victims are found murdered under mysterious circumstances, with no apparent connection between them. As Delaware and Sturgis delve deeper, they uncover a complex web of motives and suspects, leading to a thrilling and unexpected conclusion.

Winter seams to be the season of thrillers, as many of my favorite authors released books in the last couple of months. The Alex Delaware novels are in my top ten. And I can’t imagine anyone but John Rubinstein doing the narration. He’s one of the reason I love the books as much as I do. The combination of Kellerman’s engaging writing and Rubinstein’s skilled narration makes this audiobook a must-listen for fans of psychological thrillers.

Jonathan Kellerman, born in 1949, is a former clinical psychologist who transitioned into writing, bringing his professional insights into the psychological complexities of his characters. His deep understanding of human behavior enriches the narrative, adding layers of authenticity to the investigative process.

The audiobook is narrated by John Rubinstein, an accomplished actor, composer, and director. Rubinstein’s narration brings the characters to life, capturing the nuances of their personalities and the tension of the plot. His performance enhances the storytelling, making the audiobook a captivating experience.
