I’m thrilled to share that the film adaptation of my short story, The Dead Man’s Flood, just took home First Place in the Film Noir section at the Los Angeles Film Awards (LAFA).
For those who haven’t read the story (or heard the audiobook narrated by the talented Rich Frazier), it’s a dive into the murky depths of the Great Flood of ’37. Private investigator Charlie Parker navigates a city drowning in both water and corruption.
Winning this category is particularly special because Noir is my favorite genre. There’s something about the rhythm of a hardboiled mystery that just fits my writing.
I’ll be celebrating this one with a glass of good Kentucky bourbon, though Charlie prefers Irish whisky.
You can read the story on which the screenplay is based here.
