Derby Memory

One Derby day I found myself working for Pony Express Pizza. It was late in the evening and I delivered around $52 dollars in pizza to a house in Fox Harbor. When I get to the house, a couple greeted me at the door and the husband was drunk off his ^#$.

He handed me a hundred dollar bill and told me to keep the change. His wife, mortified, said, “You can’t give him that big of a tip.”

To which he responded, “I just hit the pick six at the Derby and won over $50,000. If I win, the pizza boy wins.”

He gave me a high five and shut the door. I practically ran to the car in case the wife got him to change his mind. It was the largest single tip I earned while a pizza delivery guy.
